Broken Bread, Poured Out Wine

Broken Bread,Poured Out Wine

Broken Bread, Poured Out Wine,
You laid down your life to make us thine.
You beared their reproach, you endured their shame,
They mocked and they beat you, scorning your name.

Broken Bread, Poured Out Wine,
You laid down your life to make us thine.
A reed for a sceptre, thorns for a crown.
pressed into your head, the blood drips down.

Oh, the love, the love that you gave,
To save us from death, the debt  has been paid.
Your body stripped, your flesh was torn;
but t’was for this day you were born.

Clothed in purple robes, fit for a King;
For the joy set before you, endured suffering.
Mighty Saviour and Sovereign Lord,
You came to this earth but you were abhorred.

Broken Bread, Poured Out Wine,
You laid down your life to make us thine.
